Today was a pretty awesome day. Our group went to Beaver Mountain ski resort to meet with a group from Common Ground, an organization here in Logan, Utah that provides people of all abilities with the opportunity to take part in outdoor adventures. Some of our group helped with snowshoeing, some did Nordic skiing, and a few of us had the opportunity to downhill ski. Our ski group consisted of some of the Common Ground employees, a man who normally uses a wheel chair and uses really cool adapted ski equipment, and a man who is legally blind. We skied non-stop for most of the day, and it was incredible. The runs were powdery and really long and the weather seemed so warm compared to the ski conditions we normally have in Minnesota. I could barely keep up, we did such steep runs and they were all really great skiers.
It was a major lesson in the amazing power of having a good attitude and positive outlook on life. I can't wait to go back tomorrow and do it again.
